The Dancefloor Project

  • University of Leeds Lifton Place Leeds, England, LS2 United Kingdom (map)

Have you ever felt unsafe on the bus, walking to work or on a night out?

Join us on our pop-up dancefloor where you make the rules. Take up some space, soak up the vibes, bust a move, pick up a pen and tell us your demands.

Free to attend just drop by, and come and go as you please!

By making your mark on the walls of the dancefloor you can tell us how you want to be treated in public spaces and what makes you feel safe on a night out.

The Dancefloor Project was originally a collaboration between Bolshee CIC, York St John University and All About Respect Network, in association with the York St John University Institute for Social Justice. This innovative partnership stems from a shared commitment to provide a voice to those that have experienced sexual harm and in developing preventative strategies to make public spaces safer for all.

The Dancefloor Project comes to University of Leeds with funding from the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Cultures, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Student Award.

We understand that the project covers some sensitive topics and if you find you are upset about any of the material covered or wish to discuss your own experiences in more detail, we suggest contacting one of the following organisations for further support:
